Introduced in the 1950s, the Vacheron Constantin “Cioccolatone” features an oversized square-shaped curved case reminiscent of a block of chocolate, hence its nickname. Bearing essentially the same case shape and design as the coveted ref. 4737, the ref. 6440 Q features an additional date function that is powered by the firm’s self-winding cal. K1072. Rare timepieces that play its important role in the history of the oldest watch manufacturer, the Cioccolatone is adored by collectors due to its unique appeal and rarity. The present example Vacheron Constantin Cioccolatone ref. 6440 Q in yellow gold is paired beautifully with a matching champagne linen-textured dial with unusual rectangular-shaped art deco-style indexes.
